HTCC presents Balshastra - Religion, Culture and Heritage classes

 

Mission:          To teach children various aspects of their religion and heritage, and, through this knowledge, impart a strong moral foundation and a sense of identity.  And begin to learn the basic philosophies of Hinduism.

Who:               All Children ages 4 and up

When:             Sundays 11:30 to 1:00 PM starting from September 10, 2006

Curriculum:    Daily Prayers

Cherished Shlokas (such as Hanuman Chalisa, Madhurashakam ) with meanings

Bhajans,

Special story time for children on Scripture, mythology, folk tales.

Frequent movie time/multimedia presentation - Gods (Stories Rama, Krishna, Hanuman etc), Folk tales (Panchatantra, Tenali Raman, Akbar & Birbal etc) and History. 

Knowledge of India and its cultures and traditions, history and festivals.   

Art projects.

Special projects at the end of each semester/quarter.

Logistics:        All classes will be conducted at the Bothell HTCC temple premises.

Kids stay in class while parents can watch the Sunday pooja. After the class, a wonderful opportunity for the kids to view the aarthi and take prasad.              

Enrollment:     $100 per child for the whole school year (Sep-June). Cost covers all materials.

Key Benefits: Balshastra students will have opportunities to frequently present shlokas, bhajans and short plays at the temple

 

Tamil classes will also be conducted if there is enough interest
