Milestones in building Phase II
The Planning committee with the approval of the Board, filed a Master
Application consisting of a major modification of a Conditional Use Permit and
Relocation of the existing Creek ,on May 17, 2007.The modification proposed
increasing the size of the future temple to 48,000 square feet of useable space.
A SEPA appeal was filed by an adjacent property owner to south west of the HTCC
property, on October 22, 2007.The issues between the neighbor and the HTCC were
successfully resolved after we bought the said property in March 2008.
A Public Hearing, which was attended by the Planning committee members and some
Board members, took place on March 13 2008.
On April 23 2008, the Hearing Examiner of Snohomish County issued the decision
wherein the request for major modification of of the Conditional use Permit and
relocation of the creek, were approved with several conditions.
This decision became officially effective on May23,2008.
What is happening at this time?
1. A Sthapti from Chennai has been engaged to help our
Architects in designing the PhaseII temple according to ancient Hindu
Achitectural shastras .In this connection frequent conversations and email
exchanges have been occuring with the Sthapti.
2. The Planning committee has instructed SeattleArchitect
company to start preliminary drawings of designing the Phase II temple. These
drawings will be presented to the Board as well posted on the website, when
ready.
3. About 13 conditions have to be fulfilled prior to
initiation of any site work and/ or to issuance of any development/ construction
permits by the county. The Planning Committee is holding frequent meetings with
the Architects to take care of these conditions .This also will entail meetings
with Snohomish county DPDS.Needless to say this will be a time consuming process
4. Some of these things are beyond beyond our control –no
matter how much we may like to expedite them. My guess is it may take at least 4
to 6 months to break ground if we are lucky.
